What We Do
We offer theological and practical ministry training to national pastors, church leaders, women, and children, so they can be more effective preachers, teachers, evangelists, and witnesses of their faith in Jesus Christ. Because this training requires men leave their families and ministries for extended periods we offer one-week modules of eight-hour a day sessions. Students cannot normally be absent from their ministries, work responsibilities, and families longer than a week. This also does not cripple local churches while key leadership staff members are off getting trained. Students are required to take competence exams daily to insure they are both receiving and comprehending the material they are being taught.
Global Baptist Training Foundation offers four levels of training in Hermeneutics, Basic Theology, Expositional Preaching, and Evangelism. For national pastors who desire training in the original biblical languages, we also offer extended training in this area. When it is possible to return to teaching sites twice a year, the training can be completed in as little as two years (without languages). ESL is also available to all of our students.
Our desire is for the training materials to be translated into the host language so they can be copied and continually utilized by those who have been trained to train others perpetually. This enables the possibility of continuous training and therefore “intentional multiplication” of pastors and other important church leaders. We desire to be training nationals in as many of the 10/40 window nations as possible in the next decade.
This is the rapid return on the investment of a missions dollar. By training indigenous, national pastors, we are enabling these men to train other native men far more quickly and effectively. One national pastor can share their training with ten men in his church or other leaders that are raised up under his own ministry. This enables exponential growth instead of growth by mere addition.
The New Missions
This is a local church looking at their mission's dollars differently than before. With a strained economy, traditional missionary families who have started and pastor a missions church may no longer be able to afford to stay on their field. How do we still get the job done? Train the nationals! That is what GBTF does!
Since 2012, Global Baptist Training Foundation has taught hundreds of indigenous pastors and church leaders in East Asia, Africa, and Haiti.
Boots on the Ground Vetting
We work through existing missionaries or national pastors who identify with GBTF doctrinally. We also request Statements of Faith from potential groups desiring a GBTF classroom and require that our attendees are in agreement with our GBTF doctrinal statement. This assures that we are investing in solid, reputable individuals who will train others well.
Aiming at the Heart of doing Mission Work
This means that we can no longer be satisfied in trying to maintain one family on the field for an extended period of time, at great cost to many local churches over that same period of time. Global Baptist Training Foundation focuses on training national individuals who want and need training for ministry now who do not have access to education and could not pay for it if they did. We are committed to reaching, training, and empowering these individuals with solid Biblical training for fruitful ministry at no cost to the natives.
Maximizing the Missions Dollar Dividend
Because training is all we do, the return on the mission dollars sent through Global Baptist Training Foundation offer a high return on the investment.
Nationals Train Nationals Better
Westerners are no longer as respected or as welcome as they once were. This trend will likely not change much over the next decade. This puts more responsibility for the evangelization and training of spiritual leaders upon the nationals. Global Baptist Training Foundation is committed to training the national pastors, church leaders, and teachers.
