09/27/2018 Mexico Class Update
We are well into our first classroom here in Oaxaca. This is our first classroom in the country, and this initial experience is certainly a unique one. We have a much smaller, compact classroom with about nineteen pastors and six women who serve as single missionaries around this greater area or are serving local churches as teachers. They have brought a different vibe to this teaching time, and it has been a welcome one. This is a much smaller class than we normally hold, but we recognize that it is only the beginning of the long-term plan of training nationals all over this country as God opens new doors.
The nineteen or so pastors have come from various places around this part of Mexico up to six or seven hours away, and they are enjoying and absorbing the teaching. It has been a joy to work once again with one of my old ministry friends Jorge Ramirez. Jorge served as our adult Bible teacher at one of our church plants in Canada several years ago.
Last night I was asked to preach in the church for the second time during their Wednesday night Bible Study. The Lord greatly blessed the message. I preached from 2 Kings 4:1-7 on “The Essentials of a Genuine Faith.” The Lord touched the hearts of several men and women who came for prayer because of the many life crises they were presently experiencing There was much tear-filled praying and seeking of God after the message and then a time of worship in song. I wish you could have been here to sense what God did. I plan on sharing this message in a blog in the near future.
As I share this blog this morning Jorge is teaching in his native tongue, and the students are thoroughly enjoying him. I will take my turn shortly and work through my translator Cynthia. She has been both a great translator as well as student this week. Pray for us as we wrap it up tomorrow and issue certificates of completion. I have no doubt that Mexico will be added to the teaching schedule of GBTF.
Pray for us as we finish and head back home on Saturday to a busy schedule of a mission’s conference, and then on to Rwanda and Uganda for back to back teaching weeks. We are still asking God to bring in all of the funding for these important classrooms. Be reminded that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or even think!
So please pray, and if God speaks to you about helping out, be assured that you can’t out give God!
Blessings from Mexico!
